Thesis: "Contrastive Study of BOREDOM in English, French and Russian"

In my PhD thesis, I study the concept of boredom in three languages/cultures : French, English and Russian. By using corpora of blogs (LiveJournal, Canalblog) and applying the Natural Semantic Metalanguage approach, and Metaphorical Pattern Analysis, I examine pragmatic and contrastive aspects of prototypical situations of boredom in social context. I then compare metaphorical structuring through the analysis of lexemes expressing the emotion concept.
