Florence Petroff holds a doctorate in history and civilization of the English-speaking world. In 2020, she defended her thesis, supervised by Bertrand Van Ruymbeke, at the University of Paris 8 Vincennes Saint-Denis. It is a study of the role of American colonists’ and Scotts’ perspectives in the construction of hybrid identities, associating "Britishness" to either "Americanness" or "Scottishness" during the American Revolution (1765-1783).

Thesis :
« Le miroir atlantique. L’Écosse et l’Amérique dans la crise impériale : regards croisés et identités hybrides au sein du monde britannique (1765-1783) ».
