DEVYLDER Simon

Simon Devylder a soutenu sa thèse de doctorat en linguistique anglaise à l’Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 en juin 2016, sous la direction de Denis Jamet-Coupé. Sa thèse portait sur les expressions partie-tout du soi en anglais, analysées à partir d’un corpus de récits de psychothérapie et de forums sur le PTSD.

 

À la suite de sa soutenance, il a rejoint le Département de Sémiotique Cognitive de l’Université de Lund (Suède), d’abord comme postdoctorant (2016–2018), puis comme directeur de trois projets de recherche (2019–2021), financés notamment par le Swedish Research Council et la Crafoord Foundation. Il a ensuite été lauréat d’une bourse Marie Sk ?odowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (Union Européenne, 2020–2023) à l’Université Arctique de Norvège (UiT, Tromsø), dans le cadre du projet MAPS (Multifactorial Analysis of Possessive Structures in Paamese and North Sámi). De 2024 à 2025, il a occupé un poste de postdoctorant au laboratoire Dynamique du Langage (CNRS, Lyon), avant de rejoindre l’Université Paris 8.

 

Ses recherches combinent des approches qualitatives et quantitatives (modèles statistiques fréquentistes et bayésiens, science des réseaux, traitement automatique des langues) et s’appuient sur des terrains en France, au Vanuatu et dans l’Arctique norvégien. Ses travaux ont été récompensés par le Prix Mouton d’Or 2023 (DeGruyter Mouton, meilleur article de l’année), le Prix de la meilleure présentation en linguistique cognitive (Zagreb, 2016) et le 1er Prix John Benjamin’s Young Researcher Award (Pavie, 2015). Il est membre du bureau d’administration de l’International Cognitive Linguistics Association (ICLA) depuis 2017.

 

Axes de recherche : sémantique cognitive, morphosyntaxe, communication multimodale et polysémiotique, métaphore, iconicité, variation et changement linguistique, langues autochtones, sociolinguistique, traitement automatique des langues.
