GARDFORS Johan
Johan Gardfors holds a Ph.D. in comparative literature from the University of Gothenburg. He teaches creative writing and comparative literature at several Swedish universities and is a frequent writer of literary essays on aesthetics. His research is devoted to problems of interartistic relations, such as the cluster of photography-literature-modernity, the strategy of illegible writing in the transnational avant-garde movements, and the transformation of the literary field in relation to visual arts during the 1960s. Recent publications include a multilingual and collectively authored article on the sound poet Lily Greenham, an edited book on photography and literature, an article on the editorial practices of the avant-gardes, and an anachronistic reading of Leibniz as an existentialist. Gardfors is affiliated to the ENAG network for studies of the European Neo-Avant-Gardes and was a visiting scholar at DEPA, Paris 8, during 2019.
